For this major project, I worked together with Pansy, Diana, Jess and Clara to complete a film as our transformation. I acted as the informal “overall co-ordinator” and was appointed to be in charge of the final script. Pansy, being the IT guru, took care of the filming and editing. Diana was put in charge of the storyboard and was our make-up artist. Jess, with her sophistication in writing and analysis, wrote up the detailed analysis of our intentions with the transformation; in addition, she also helped write up the draft script for our final transformation, as it was originally her idea. Clara kept a logbook of our activities, and very kindly gave us access to her home on countless occasions for filming.
It has not been easy trying to find times to meet up to discuss the project and distribute roles evenly between each member of the group, and at times it has been extremely frustrating, with clashing opinions and disagreements within the group. This led to a complete change in our original idea, and all the work that was put into our first idea was rendered useless. We also faced problems with the quality of the film, and it was disheartening when we couldn’t achieve the effects we had hoped to be able to present. However, I believe we have dealt with all these difficulties as best as we could, and I have definitely learnt a lot through the duration of this project.
Through the close study of the play Macbeth, I have come to gain a much deeper insight into Shakespeare’s intentions, and at the same time, I have developed my own understanding and interpretations of Macbeth. I think that one of the main ideas in Macbeth is that of guilt, so powerful and consuming that it leads to the downfall of both Macbeth and his wife. Although it is implied that Macbeth’s actions were the result of manipulation of the witches – bringing up the issue of fate vs. choice – I believe that the ultimate resolution of the story depended on the choices that Macbeth had to make. At any time in the play, he could have chosen to turn back and atoned for his sins. This brings us to the question of what exactly drove Macbeth to the final dismal ending; I think that it is his greed, pride, lust for power, and most importantly, a fatal underestimation of the consequences of his actions.
Thus, this is what we are trying to explore through our transformation. If Macbeth had known the exact consequences of his actions, would he have made the same choice? No – the answer is readily given, for no one would choose a path to their death. We built our transformation on this foundation, and whilst the setting and situation were totally changed and complicated, we held the belief that the knowledge of the final outcome would overwhelm everything else; be it greed, wealth, power… for what is the use of all that if one has lost all else that truly matters?
The film is placed in a modern setting, with a rather common conflict – that of the fighting over inheritance. Duncan, now the head of a family, has decided that he will be leaving all of his assets to Malcolm. There is a slight role reversal, as Lady Macbeth is now the focus of the story. In the original play, Shakespeare presented Lady Macbeth as the final catalyst which led to Macbeth’s decision; it was her mocking of Macbeth that gave him the determination to put his thoughts into action. Therefore, in the film, we have concentrated more on the character of Lady Macbeth and explored her relationship with Macbeth. Through a dream, Lady Macbeth sees the unfolding of events that will happen after she kills Duncan. The dream itself is a representation of the witches; however, while in the original play the witches led Macbeth to his downfall, the dream “manipulated” Lady Macbeth to make the right choice.
Some of the key elements in the original play are still retained in the film, such as that of guilt – the shadow seen in the scene where Lady Macbeth kills Duncan is a representation of the guilt that is already shadowing her as she commits the horrific act; it is also because of this guilt that she cannot bring herself to stab Duncan with the knife, and ends up suffocating Duncan. The reflection in the knife is crucial, as it represents the choice that Lady Macbeth has made – the image of the person she sees reflected by the knife is no longer the person reflected in the mirror when she was putting on makeup. The addition of a flashback provides more insight into Lady Macbeth’s history, and thus gives her even more motivation to kill Duncan. However, in the end, it is shown that despite all this, after she learns of the consequences that her actions will bring, she makes the right choice.
In conclusion, I feel that the development of our film storyline has culminated in this final message: The knowledge of the consequences of his actions was the crux to how the story of Macbeth developed, for in the end, a person’s moral values and conscience will outweigh all else. This is the reason that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth feel the guilt they experience in the original play, and this is the reason for Lady Macbeth’s choice in our transformation. The essence, albeit slightly cliché? A person is good at heart.

i was thinking, hmm, it's too slow to try and write down points to see if i rmb them.. i should TYPE!
and then i thought, hmm, i should type them in blog! just in case diana may want to read to revise.
so anyway, do not waste your time reading the following as they will just be random history notes that i can rmb

- whitlam was PM from 1972 - 1975
- although his gov was in office for a relatively short time, many of the policies and institutions they set up are still evident today
- contributed greatly to australia's post war development
- embarked on massive legislative reform program
- introduced many new policies e.g. multiculturalism, implementation of medibank, push for equal rights and freedoms for women and aboriginals
- in 1973, multiculturalism was introduced -> led to formation of migrant associations and advisory boards that looked at issues affecting cultures and languages other than english
- multiculturalism is social and political policy established by gov to emphasize cultural diversity while all citizens remain under "common law" and one democratic gov
- multiculturalism resulted in: establishment of migrant education centres; creation of ethnic associations and a Migrant Task Force to help migrants with the transition into a new environment; restrictions of the amount of non-English programming on radio and television was ended; setting up of ethnic radio stations.
- multiculturalism resulted in equality and access to services for migrants
- to this day, immigrants enjoy equality and Australia has become a thriving multicultural society
- medibank - now more commonly known as medicare - was a comprehensive, universal health insurance scheme: reimbursed individuals for the medical costs incurred and subsidised public hospitals for the free treatment of patients.
- medibank changed the way primary health care was delivered, as health care became accessible to everyone, regardless of social status, wealth or ethnicity.
- under whitlam gov, status of women and aboriginals was also greatly increased
- whitlam implemented policy of equal pay for women; appointed many females to key positions within the gov
- aboriginals gained land rights and national aboriginal consultative committee was set up
- whitlam recognised imptance of equality regardless of gender and race -> his policies marked beginning of recognition of women and aboriginals
- whitlam was a radical PM -> fearlessly fulfilled many of his visions for australia
- at the time, his changes were met with speculation and criticism; however, today when we look back, we can truly appreciate the policies he introduced -> they paved the way for the development of australia as we know it today
- whitlam gov was dismissed by sir john kerr in 1975 -> was very unpopular by then, although they introduced many beneficial policies
- three main factors were: economic problems, scandals within the gov, perceived arrogance and insensitivity of some within gov
- public was starting to resent gov as they were introducing too many changes in too short a time
- media, controlled by Libs, were also reflecting Labor in a bad light
- in 1973, war broke out in middle east -> oil crisis -> economic recession in Australia and other western countries. Led to unemployment, wage explosion and inflation + gov spending on welfare and reforms were turning budget deficit
- ppl questioned economic competence of whitlam gov -> many blamed the gov for the problems.
- Loan's affair: minister of minerals and energy, rex connor, tried to borrow 4 billion through middle eastern contacts. when ordered to stop, he deceived parliament. he was exposed by a journalist and forced to resign -> led to uproar in community, more and more people lost confidence in whitlam gov
- treasurer and deputy PM jim cairns was accused of having an affair with juni morosi when he promoted her to office; forced to resign after misleading parliament about 500 million overseas loan.
- purchase of jackson pollock painting "blue poles" created speculation -> seen as wasting money
- labor conference at terrigal in 1975 allowed journalists to photograph labor laders -> gave impression that gov was ignoring nation's problems
- whitlam gov entered office with hostile senate.
- after labor senator murphy retires and millner dies, labor completely loses control of senate and passing of bills -> led to many problems
- main problem: blocking of supply
- 1975: senate, under the order of malcolm fraser, blocked supply - meant whitlam gov had no money to operate.
- governor general sir john kerr decided to dismiss whitlam gov -> he had ability to dissolve both houses of parliament to resolve conflict within the parliament. Kerr did not have confidence in whitlam's ability to secure supply and to ensure the smooth running of the country, using this to justify his actions.
- double dissolution election in dec resulted in a massive victory to libs -> public had a very negative perception towards whitlam gov

damn that ms croswellor...how dare she make that friggin test so annoying!? A 20 mark test and then i got the 6 mark question worng...
Man...so much for being in the top english class and getting above 80% for everything...so hopeless...
Went home yesterday..had a sleep and then eventually decided to watch asian dramas...srsly man sometimes i wished that i was my cat and then i would be free of stress and get loved and then i dunno...

after all that editing guess wat i realised..?
i cant change the skin coz u gotta remember, there's also the buttons to consider.. these buttons are the navigation tools and if i edit them with the image. well. the buttons wont work..
so instead,
im'a put up some 'hot' music... which is so much better than elaine's
and once im more used to this whole blogging type thingo, i'll see what i can do about the skin..
so yeah..
